But how do you keep your money organised while it is waiting to be used? How do you stop it getting mixed up with money meant for other things? My solution to this is separate bank accounts. I currently have two current accounts. One of them is my 'house account' which has all my direct debits set up for house things, such as rent, council tax, utilities, phone, Internet etc. I currently put £680 into that account each month because that is my total budget for all those 'house' things each month. Obviously some things are variable and not the same every month like electricity so the whole £680 is not always used. I also have a £200 fee free overdraft and I keep an extra £100 in there just in case some bills are more than expected I have a buffer. At the end of every month I look at this account and bring the balance back to £100, sweeping up any extra money that might be in there into my savings or making it back up to £100 if there was an unexpected bill. Having that buffer in there gives me a peace of mind that I'm not living down to the wire and if something goes wrong all the other bills will still be covered.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">My second current account is more of a personal one. But as I try to work in cash I rarely use it. I keep the balance of that one at £500 and that is mainly for emergencies. For example in case I get stuck somewhere and have to get cash for a taxi, or a hotel room or car repairs. Anything really that is an unexpected expense but I need to pay for now. Or if you are out shopping and something on your forever list (you know that list that has things you would like on it but they are luxuries not essentials!) is on sale at an unbelievable price, there is a buffer there to be able to purchase a bit of an impulse buy. Or you see the perfect birthday/Christmas present for someone...you get the gist! This account is also made back up to £500 at the end of every month so too much spending can make the next few months very stretched which helps to keep any unnecessary spending in check.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So I have two current accounts to keep things separated but I also have several savings accounts. Interest rates are so ridiculously low at the moment that I just see my savings accounts as pots I keep my money in not as any way of it growing and making money. My first savings account is just an online saver that I keep a balance of £1000 in. This is basically so I have money there ready for any big purchases like holidays. I recently booked some flights which cost about £500 and it was so easy to have the money<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> there ready and waiting. So my savings next month will go into this account to make it back up to the £1000 before topping up any others. It's good because I'm owing myself money rather than a credit card or overdraft!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">My second savings account is that whole 'three months income' one. As my income is just minimum wage I only had to build that up to £3000 before that was done! Again it's just an online savings account but if I don't make any withdrawals I get a ever so slightly higher interest rate. So I could get a whole 25 pence if I don't take any money out, imagine what I could buy with that!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Now when those are 'full' any extra money at the end of the month goes into an isa. Since the government increased the amount you can put into savings tax free, isa's have become a bit redundant to me but this is a slightly (for me) crazy one. It's partly a stocks and shares isa so some of the money used is gambled on the stock market. This account is used for very very long term. It will hopefully be a deposit for a house, but the deposit I would need is so ridiculously huge that I will probably never be able to save enough, therefore this account doesn't worry me because I won't be needing the money anytime soon, the markets will not go down forever and I will hopefully earn a bit more than standard interest rates on my savings having the money in this account.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">I also have a credit card. I only have about £800 credit on it so I couldn't go mad but I mainly use this for online purchases because it gives you a bit of security should anything go wrong. It also doesn't charge me to use it abroad so when I go on holiday I usually load it up with some money and it's like just having a debit card with you in whatever currency you are in fee free. I pay it off in full when the bill comes in, I don't spend money I don't have on it. Using it will also build up a good credit rating for me if I ever get to apply for a mortgage or loan in the future.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">That's it that's where I keep my money! I have bits and bobs in other accounts from childhood and premium bonds, but I quite like knowing that there is the odd few hundred pounds here and there should I ever desperately need it! I don't have a lot of money but sorting it out this way gives me peace of mind, knowing that if something terrible happened I would be able to cope (hopefully)!</span></div>Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-12149973297245955142016-09-10T23:13:00.001-07:002016-09-25T09:38:17.341-07:00A Wedding Quilt<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">I somehow seem to have got myself thinking I need to make quilts for people as wedding presents!</span></div><div><br></div><div>It started with my friend Lizzie's wedding 2 years ago, where I decided to make her a library quilt.</div><div><br></div><div>It was the first quilt I had ever made (actually to date the only quilt I have ever made!) and for some reason I decided I would just do my own thing and not follow a pattern or anything! It seems to be the way I work best, I enjoy the planning and problem solving stages, often coming up with solutions during my sleep. It is just the actual making bit I struggle to motivate myself with! So this quilt should not have taken me as long as it did but my procrastination definitely dragged it out a lot longer!</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsQEDKRcXKbxEfB5v8dcDzBCObuHzZkgK6PGCEoMBWR6q1pT1O6AsXuHEosVH0xUhpeEh9Erk5a1NWgvjIBaFZStHsJafEOF4IW9z4I2d3P02KBsNNNVwt6dGfs4oKLVLD2CrP91Mjl0c/s640/blogger-image-663845416.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsQEDKRcXKbxEfB5v8dcDzBCObuHzZkgK6PGCEoMBWR6q1pT1O6AsXuHEosVH0xUhpeEh9Erk5a1NWgvjIBaFZStHsJafEOF4IW9z4I2d3P02KBsNNNVwt6dGfs4oKLVLD2CrP91Mjl0c/s640/blogger-image-663845416.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div>This is a picture of the finished quilt top. I didn't get it finished for the wedding date and then when the pressure for that date had gone other projects took preference. But I am aiming to get it finished and wrapped up for Christmas in the hope that they won't be expecting it then and it will be a nice surprise for them. But Christmas is a busy time of year for crafting so I'm putting in the hours now to hopefully have it finished in plenty of time and I can then crack on with the Christmas crafting! You may remember last month I told you that I get paid in cash and that I live off the previous months wages. I get paid on a Thursday so after the last Thursday of each month I sit down, put all my wages together and allocate it to various expenses.<div><br></div><div>Firstly I empty last months 'envelopes' and bring my budget back down to zero, essentially sweeping up anything that I overbudgeted for the month into my savings. Unfortunately last month I had quite a few things to pay for so after balancing all that out I only had <b>£64.63</b> to put across into my savings.</div><div><br></div><div>Once last months money is dealt with I turn my attention to next month and add up all my weekly pay packets to get my total. In May I earned <b>£1151.12. </b>So this is what I have to live off in June. </div><div><br></div><div>I then place any coins into a couple of money boxes I have. £2, £1, 50p, 20p and 10p's go into one money box and 5p, 2p and 1p's go into another. I put <b>£11.12 </b>into one and <b>22p </b>into the other. I decided to see how much was in these money boxes out of interest and just by putting the coins I get paid with and any leftover coins at the end of the month in I have managed to save <b>£70.30</b> in one and <b>£17.34</b> in the other. Not bad for just a few months and I haven't missed the money. Hopefully this can be spending money when I go on holiday or something.</div><div><br></div><div>Next I get out my envelopes and put the required amount in each one for the month. </div><div><br></div><div>They go as follows:</div><div><br></div><div><b>Rent: £450</b></div><div><b>Utilities: £70</b></div><div><b>Council Tax: £100</b></div><div><b>Internet: £30</b></div><div><b>Mobile Phone: £20</b></div><div><b>Spotify: £10</b></div><div><b>Food: £50</b></div><div><b>Petrol: £50</b></div><div><b>Birthdays: £40 </b>(I look ahead in the month to decide how much I need in this envelope so it depends on how many birthdays there are in the month. I budget £10 for friends and £20 for family)</div><div><br></div><div>So that's <b>£820 </b>in total allocated for my monthly budget. That leaves me with <b>£319.78 </b>'spare' for the month. As I said earlier I had to pay for some hen party things like activities, accommodation and food. I had a deposit to pay on someone's 30th birthday celebrations. I also treated myself to a lamp and a few new plants for my flat so I only ended up with putting <b>£181.29 </b>into my savings account this month. I aim to save <b>£250</b> a month but sometimes that amount just isn't possible.</div><div><br></div><div>I'll share with you what accounts I use and how I separate my money in another post.</div>Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-22265007353671054432016-05-14T10:01:00.001-07:002016-06-05T09:43:43.248-07:00Budgeting<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_YpmA8AWuHs8ppmfZIqxRjPopxttkYvCgZfTw1TgAiYhtsP7of_eVUHyaUgfZ1pk7bAlstG8xo7GrbocNFKXiOelDO6775DTnUmcncWEVpPY8DkxwXggglN5bvLdp74KTeMIHAjf6Hu4/s640/blogger-image--1021502715.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_YpmA8AWuHs8ppmfZIqxRjPopxttkYvCgZfTw1TgAiYhtsP7of_eVUHyaUgfZ1pk7bAlstG8xo7GrbocNFKXiOelDO6775DTnUmcncWEVpPY8DkxwXggglN5bvLdp74KTeMIHAjf6Hu4/s640/blogger-image--1021502715.jpg"></a></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>I have been moved into my small 1 bed flat for almost two months now. It is the first time I have ever lived by myself, and so far I absolutely love it! I can do what I want when I want, things don't move when I go out, nobody makes a mess and doesn't clean it up except me!<div><br></div><div>What I am also enjoying about living on my own is budgeting my money. I know it isn't the most exciting of things but I do genuinely really enjoy working out my budget, seeing if I can stick to it and saving money at the end of every month.</div><div><br></div><div>My job doesn't pay much, it is minimum wage and not quite full time each week, but my basic hours guarantees me about 35 hours each week. I also do some cleaning, gardening etc for my grandma once a week which she pays me a <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">bit for.</span></div><div><br></div><div>The best thing for my budget that I have done, which I haven't done before, is to live off last months earnings. I get paid weekly and in cash from my job so when I get paid<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div> I put it into my money box until the end of the month. Then at the end of the month (usually after the last pay packet for that month) I open up all the envelopes and put them together to see how much I have to budget with for the next month. I have found this system really good mainly because I don't earn a salary so what I earn each month changes, so it is good to know exactly what I have to work with each month. It also means that I don't have to wait for my next wage to be able to pay bills etc. The money is already sitting in my money box waiting to be allocated.</div><div><br></div><div>I have also been using a bit of an envelope system to work out what needs to go where. I use plastic wallets to put the money for rent, council tax, utilities, car, phone and Internet. I also have a purse with two coin sections where I put food money in one side and petrol money in the other. I am attempting to be really tough with myself in that once the money has gone from a category that is it. Even if I have spare in another envelope.</div><div><br></div><div>At the end of each month I take my budgets back down to zero, essentially sweeping up all the loose change into my savings, however small the amount. For example, if I budgeted £30 for my internet and it is only £27.99 then the extra £2.01 goes across to my savings.</div><div><br></div><div>Because I do love budgeting I have spent a fair amount of time (mainly on Pinterest!) reading people's different budgeting techniques and I have taken bits from them to make my own budget work for me and so far so good. I am not stressing about money despite the fact that this is probably the time when I have the least spare cash because I know how much I have and where it is. I am working on building up emergency funds for life's little surprises and hopefully going to have enough money saved up for a holiday or two this year!</div><div><br></div><div>At the end of the month I will share with you my budget so you can see how I allocate my spending, and where I save each month.</div>Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-7511575615445050772016-02-27T10:25:00.001-08:002016-02-27T10:25:02.330-08:00A year down under<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM7bHZgg7rJBVL5vgMwRWx5qpWg6ZxwbxHiSDVQ22hwPDeSHTSeHkBwCR74SVeI30yHvRBiGk-IGMtJ5kE38p1i2C-00pYQFbxWSH3nnq81UaGIe3oAbdx-t9Fm9uMZBkuYhRGuP5Z29k/s640/blogger-image--1952476435.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM7bHZgg7rJBVL5vgMwRWx5qpWg6ZxwbxHiSDVQ22hwPDeSHTSeHkBwCR74SVeI30yHvRBiGk-IGMtJ5kE38p1i2C-00pYQFbxWSH3nnq81UaGIe3oAbdx-t9Fm9uMZBkuYhRGuP5Z29k/s640/blogger-image--1952476435.jpg"></a></div><div><br></div>That's it, it's over. These are just some of the questions everyone asks you when you get back...like as soon as you get back from the airport having just been on a plane for 19 hours!</div><div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRyxs2IrRmgtPBZmas8S6y60PaEOjzt4HzdgroPlDxOQff1P3CUlYkbT8SvDVOjNK-0ettRYb2FzgzXQztb1fmz0HB-I8iK1VfdCfonnJntunWm0M3FqvLzFaiPrTlySrLRHCQfEnKHac/s640/blogger-image--1735947431.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRyxs2IrRmgtPBZmas8S6y60PaEOjzt4HzdgroPlDxOQff1P3CUlYkbT8SvDVOjNK-0ettRYb2FzgzXQztb1fmz0HB-I8iK1VfdCfonnJntunWm0M3FqvLzFaiPrTlySrLRHCQfEnKHac/s640/blogger-image--1735947431.jpg"></a></div><br></div></div><div><br></div><div>How does it feel to be back? </div><div>This one is hard to describe, it almost feels like another life. A bit like Narnia or a dream. I know I was in Australia (I have thousands of pictures to remind me of this) but it somehow feels like none of it has happened. I have come back and everything is the same like I was never away.</div><div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKJJKYB32xEuKpv94RmC6RAmlf432h3pObDTG6aQ5e9PGyAl2tpSKUsjZb6CmmzllCh2NUF4mSl8lIn5FfTGzdpFeambik-PxE6mOd3KH2WMoQ5ePGvoq8yNtO7LATUDCu5iP5oqqTMjA/s640/blogger-image--571741372.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKJJKYB32xEuKpv94RmC6RAmlf432h3pObDTG6aQ5e9PGyAl2tpSKUsjZb6CmmzllCh2NUF4mSl8lIn5FfTGzdpFeambik-PxE6mOd3KH2WMoQ5ePGvoq8yNtO7LATUDCu5iP5oqqTMjA/s640/blogger-image--571741372.jpg"></a></div></div><div><br></div><div>Have I changed? (And do I have an Australian accent?!)</div><div>I don't think I have changed as a person. I still like the same things, enjoy doing the same things. I haven't had some kind of epiphany and come back living by a different set of beliefs. But I think being away and travelling on my own has shown me that I actually can do things I didn't think I could but I think I always could do this I just didn't believe it. For example, I have always thought I was quite an introvert and shy person. And whilst I am definitely not the most extrovert person you will ever meet I am not as introvert as I thought. I went out and made friends, both aussie's and fellow travellers, I didn't get the dread in the pit of my stomach about having to join in a group activity or ask strangers for directions or even to answer the phone. I realised how many friends I actually have and somebody with that many friends can't be completely introverted and socially inept right?!</div><div>I don't have an Australian accent (I can do some good impressions though!) but then I don't have a particularly good English accent either. People often wouldn't be able to tell I was from England and then the fellow English people couldn't place whereabouts I was from (for a small country we have pretty broad range of accents I think) a lot of Australians thought I was from Melbourne...</div><div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoLs9qAbPt8_axH-Isg7bwSN2y5zvvQUCqVKaRn56YR9HxHo53vYi0RDCCkSwMhau-c0HUpClst3RSNlR544AJCJsoN9FEutzQ1i2dCbKshlKhA2NZrEjEtDTJoc3fq__cRrmuMR2bw8Y/s640/blogger-image--476261854.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoLs9qAbPt8_axH-Isg7bwSN2y5zvvQUCqVKaRn56YR9HxHo53vYi0RDCCkSwMhau-c0HUpClst3RSNlR544AJCJsoN9FEutzQ1i2dCbKshlKhA2NZrEjEtDTJoc3fq__cRrmuMR2bw8Y/s640/blogger-image--476261854.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div></div><div>What am I going to do now?</div><div>This is the hardest question to answer. I don't know! I've never been one of those people who knows what they want to do in life or even which area they want to be in (I really envy those people). I started out wanting to find my 'career', my path in life. Something I would want to do until I retire. But I just don't think there is one thing I want to do for the next 40 years. I know I don't like working in retail so I wanted to steer clear of that. Office work is mega boring but does pay fairly well for not much effort. Then I started to panic that I had been home for 2 months and still didn't have a job and started applying for anything. Then I saw a poster in a local bakery window...and now I am a trainee baker! I have to be at work for 5am 6 days a week but the work is interesting enough at the moment to keep me entertained. Active enough that I don't feel sluggish and lazy like in an office and pays me enough to move out of my parents house (just!). It is the least stressful environment I have worked in. I seem to have enough time to do my work without running around like a headless chicken, they are not ridiculously understaffed (retail I'm looking at you!) there doesn't seem to be the annoying work dramas that go on in bigger places. It's just chilled , turn up do your work, go home and forget about it. I'm finished by lunchtime at the latest. Will I be doing it for the rest of my life? Probably not but for now it is exactly what I want from a job. I just don't think I'm a career person!</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipWi8Nr364mya-o2iK1Ea9-WTY-SH4WaAwAwy2D-rnYBR1qCoXFKzxWKOQitQ4cRqpSxgb5IDc1mKpf6G7N6rBG-g2pfbrXFOihPIUQzvoICdU9jdCoqkqX1yQ293kCDgx-PxXySxRvPU/s640/blogger-image-569572074.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipWi8Nr364mya-o2iK1Ea9-WTY-SH4WaAwAwy2D-rnYBR1qCoXFKzxWKOQitQ4cRqpSxgb5IDc1mKpf6G7N6rBG-g2pfbrXFOihPIUQzvoICdU9jdCoqkqX1yQ293kCDgx-PxXySxRvPU/s640/blogger-image-569572074.jpg"></a></div> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Seriously how cute are koalas?!</div><br></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">So what will I be blogging about in the future? I've been in Australia for 2 months already- blimey time goes quickly! Things have been getting on top of me for the past year or so and keeping up with everything was just too much so things had to give until I sorted myself out again.<br />
<br />
I have been doing much better recently and I am feeling like it is time to start blogging again. A lot has happened since I last posted so I will catch you up and let you know where I am going with my life in the future (I'm quite excited and scared about the upcoming changes!)<br />
<br />
Firstly a few holiday snaps from my 3 week holiday in Australia at the beginning of the year. I went to Perth for 2 weeks to stay with family and then onto Sydney for a week to do touristy things.<br />
<br />
Sorry this post is very picture heavy but it was 3 weeks!!<br />

This is the view from my Uncle's flat in South Perth. The Australian's don't actually consider this to be in Perth but with these views I would prefer to live this side of the Swan river!<br />

Obligatory shot of a kangaroo- they were all a bit hot to be hopping around, it was over 40 degrees centigrade out there.<br />

Back to the Australian animals with this Koala who seems to be doing some kind of yoga- how can this be comfortable?!<br />

<br />
Obviously went to the beach a lot- swam in 3 oceans by the time I was finished. Although I didn't swim here as the rip tide was quite strong even to paddle your feet it was trying to drag you in. There was a natural reef a bit further out which keeps the sharks out.<br />
<br />

<br />
Watched the sunset over the ocean and these massive container ships totally got in the way but it does actually give a nice contrast to the orange sky so I'll let them off this time.<br />
<br />

<br />
I was in Perth for Australia Day which seems to be bigger than Christmas out there. This massive Australian flag was flown around a few times during the day by the tiny helicopter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The fireworks were amazing. The people who organise the Sydney New Year fireworks do Perth for Australia Day. It was really quite strange watching fireworks not all wrapped up with coats, scarves, hats and gloves like we would be here in the UK to watch fireworks as bonfire night and New Years are in winter.<br />
<br />

<br />
Onto Sydney and even they have bad days in summer. This is Bondi Beach completely deserted except for some hardcore surfers and us Brits who won't let a bit of rain interfere with our beach day!<br />

<br />
I think because there are so many beaches and they have a lot more beach good days the Australian beaches are never really packed out. This is Palm Beach otherwise known as Summer Bay in Home and Away completely deserted!<br />
<br />

Mandatory picture of the Sydney Opera House and below is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Sydney's most recognisable landmarks and I have loads of pictures of them from all angles and modes of transport so be grateful I am just showing you one of each!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I actually climbed the bridge one evening. It was really fun, you climb up the top of the arch cross at the flags at the top and the down again, getting amazing views of the city.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now for my exciting news!! I will be returning to Australia at the end of this year, in time for Christmas for a whole year this time. I decided a few months after I returned from my trip that I was not done with Australia, there was still way to much to see and do that I had to go back. So I applied for a working visa which allows me to work and stay in Australia for a whole year. I'm really excited about going but obviously scared about leaving the security of a full time and permanent job, leaving my family and friends behind for a year but I felt it was too good of an opportunity to miss out on and if I didn't take it I would regret it forever. Hey I can always come back of I really hate it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I now have that to focus on and have so much I need to do before I leave including moving out of my house and packing up all my stuff for a year, organising seeing everyone before I go, working out travel plans and money and how to pack for a year in a suitcase!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will fill you in on some of my crafty makes in my next post. I'm sure there are lots to show you!</div>

I of course (as is the true style of crafters!) left it all to the last minute even though I had said to myself I would be more organised about it this time! So after several late nights and early mornings crafting away I produced these presents for my family and friends.<br />
<br />
This is a decoration for my friends daughter. I have made her a decoration every year for Christmas and will also make one for her son now as it was his first Christmas (I rushed and ruined my first attempt at his decoration so he hasn't got one yet)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQpWGBA_ooSrp55xzhdS7lRF7B2RDJg7BV7O6rhUCECfz8oO7tKZlvT0tlBfjsLuUnPX1M4bxgTsUoZoovDTINhqPn0iz819mEnRO3fvxvM08P-PqdxCz1RahtkT_lzORJrkNJKNSfzQk/s1600/Bridge+Camera+041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQpWGBA_ooSrp55xzhdS7lRF7B2RDJg7BV7O6rhUCECfz8oO7tKZlvT0tlBfjsLuUnPX1M4bxgTsUoZoovDTINhqPn0iz819mEnRO3fvxvM08P-PqdxCz1RahtkT_lzORJrkNJKNSfzQk/s1600/Bridge+Camera+041.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
These were some marzipan sweets. I made the marzipan (which is surprisingly easy) and just piped some melted chocolate over the top of them. I made these for my Dad, Grandma and Godmother. I also made Turkish Delight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFzxqnbJmqI2uwWJNIwQ9UaSTwwwXZ4n5GRIj_Ld11XLf3QTFPs6q7I3DCk47ViZywjWEwJSAJp67jLFLbDsEepd9pmT6n03HpfYg5ZyZNZNfWuG5FMr_a-Hl_Vf8iANclaS8kXVnwahw/s1600/Bridge+Camera+046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFzxqnbJmqI2uwWJNIwQ9UaSTwwwXZ4n5GRIj_Ld11XLf3QTFPs6q7I3DCk47ViZywjWEwJSAJp67jLFLbDsEepd9pmT6n03HpfYg5ZyZNZNfWuG5FMr_a-Hl_Vf8iANclaS8kXVnwahw/s1600/Bridge+Camera+046.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I was actually quite organised with the present for my mum and finished it on the 1st December! She decorated her bedroom and it is now plum and Paris themed so when I saw a Paris postcard chart in CrossStitcher I knew I had to stitch it up for her. I changed the colours of the threads to match in with the rooms colour scheme.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi70wxNgAKcJ-AJsK_RGRRMdU17vfJ3tERRqwc5guIVR1b5xBcHs_r354sdqwqRAWxTgmDq0zftrMRjPbJ_czxnZXxtEmhcJ0vQU1v4Gd6R0asUkNgrkNsWvO_-rEJtVPZ7lo3PgR8RSGk/s1600/Bridge+Camera+047.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi70wxNgAKcJ-AJsK_RGRRMdU17vfJ3tERRqwc5guIVR1b5xBcHs_r354sdqwqRAWxTgmDq0zftrMRjPbJ_czxnZXxtEmhcJ0vQU1v4Gd6R0asUkNgrkNsWvO_-rEJtVPZ7lo3PgR8RSGk/s1600/Bridge+Camera+047.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This was a top for my cousin. I find males very hard to craft for so decided to just decorate tops for them as it was easy and quick to do! He loves Starbucks and has a collection of mugs from when he goes on his travels around the world.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDr8S7ihFOo1SddqhdjiKHvay5vl04-5xud2FpJTXI93T3eryIX3W7apB3VZpcWI0xd0Z-WIK46Li33bsXbY0FBjzqkyRaLbw6ffwJHzXvyVnj13FLvUrq8vAsV3AK2PiKf9hWlcdhFVc/s1600/Bridge+Camera+049.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDr8S7ihFOo1SddqhdjiKHvay5vl04-5xud2FpJTXI93T3eryIX3W7apB3VZpcWI0xd0Z-WIK46Li33bsXbY0FBjzqkyRaLbw6ffwJHzXvyVnj13FLvUrq8vAsV3AK2PiKf9hWlcdhFVc/s1600/Bridge+Camera+049.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
And this is the one I did for my brother. He is a Philosophy teacher and his favourite 3person is Richard Dawkins, a well know atheist, so when I saw this phrase when searching for sayings to do with him it was perfect!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhklTOkn9CrwNo1-9havQF_5tmvcgtJF6Ke5jmsjf8VsoQT04hztDaVUJy15wHR1GOperAagYptlxBu80bE_hT0UCsS3JUjzyJ6TD0URGQB3Tb8TRJVOGQ2zvh5MZ6Ye8K8MqBmLsCOTdU/s1600/Bridge+Camera+050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhklTOkn9CrwNo1-9havQF_5tmvcgtJF6Ke5jmsjf8VsoQT04hztDaVUJy15wHR1GOperAagYptlxBu80bE_hT0UCsS3JUjzyJ6TD0URGQB3Tb8TRJVOGQ2zvh5MZ6Ye8K8MqBmLsCOTdU/s1600/Bridge+Camera+050.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I stitched this for my Auntie. My Grandma found the material in her house a while ago and it is something that my Great-Grandma has crochet around the edge of but had never got round to putting a design in the middle. I did one for my Grandma a few years ago and have enough to do one for me, Mum and my cousin when I get time so we can all have one. I just need to decide on what to put in the middle for everyone else. My Auntie was easy as she loves poppies!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJIW2iCDrFph2RSDQ9m5SgmiZYbXvn06pwNtB0mkB399kckpa6B-JNNEVTpxuxWzc51uH4U5SFW_zB9FR0_5WFCvdAMYGVkRPgHeHInW28ebaLkldjDpPSL222NiWc7c7coBM52FF8TEY/s1600/Bridge+Camera+051.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJIW2iCDrFph2RSDQ9m5SgmiZYbXvn06pwNtB0mkB399kckpa6B-JNNEVTpxuxWzc51uH4U5SFW_zB9FR0_5WFCvdAMYGVkRPgHeHInW28ebaLkldjDpPSL222NiWc7c7coBM52FF8TEY/s1600/Bridge+Camera+051.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Staying with the theme for boys of decorating a top. I did one for my friends 5 year old who is obsessed with Doctor Who. I knitted him a tardis for his birthday which I shall show you soon so continued with the theme for Christmas. He recognised what it was when he opened it which was a relief!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And finally a present to the whole family really- a Christmas Cake!! I have never made one before so I used a recipe from Delia and it turned out alright! I don't really like fruit cake anyway but even I could eat this one! I also made a Christmas pudding for my Dad using another Delia recipe- this is yet to be tasted though!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I just went for simple icing as I have never iced a cake in royal icing before so didn't really know what I was doing but I think it turned out alright! We had a fancy candle to put on it before we cut into it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I had a good Christmas and hope you all did too? I'm really pleased I managed to make all of my presents this year and am going to say again (as I do every year) that I will start earlier next year with making them!Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-49734144904762627312013-11-03T00:50:00.002-07:002013-11-03T00:51:20.549-07:00Illusion KnittingI have been wanting to try this for a while as I was intrigued as to how it worked and now I've tried it to be honest I still have no idea how or why it works but it looks really cool!!<br />
<br />
The idea of illusion knitting is that when you look at it straight on you just see the stripes but when you look at it from an angle a picture or words emerge from the knitting.<br />
<br />
I made a cushion for my brother for his birthday. His favourite musical is Les Miserables and after a quick search on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/les-miserables-girl" target="_blank">Ravelry</a> I found an illusion pattern that was perfect for it.<br />
<br />
It didn't take too long to knit up once I had got into the swing of following the pattern.<br />
<br />
This is what the front of the cushion looks like from straight on:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF70aIhq7aPtCdeIcPsNyfgt94TMzLq-AVRTvjvQzz5vY4lru3F3yR8sIfiXxZgSdKW6dtcxtT_KCEN2OsA8laeCVeaKz0kHsS9ca3-SwEsr4uL6BzcoTnqsTWKFUsejc69-g7Sx7roS4/s1600/les+mis+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF70aIhq7aPtCdeIcPsNyfgt94TMzLq-AVRTvjvQzz5vY4lru3F3yR8sIfiXxZgSdKW6dtcxtT_KCEN2OsA8laeCVeaKz0kHsS9ca3-SwEsr4uL6BzcoTnqsTWKFUsejc69-g7Sx7roS4/s640/les+mis+3.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<br />
But when you look at it from below a recognisable image appears...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQDwG2dABsPslbmtLgy_-RdGvWlDW5qEy84b6W9CBY-dRK-LI3KMAelr4XPH6JaQ7F2ovCi9ZPAdIu8vIFa8HUJOJPRXW_JgOnmq-v7Ia4cIU1RAWY4G55G-K453d30gXPDVTgYYwGf-E/s1600/les+mis+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQDwG2dABsPslbmtLgy_-RdGvWlDW5qEy84b6W9CBY-dRK-LI3KMAelr4XPH6JaQ7F2ovCi9ZPAdIu8vIFa8HUJOJPRXW_JgOnmq-v7Ia4cIU1RAWY4G55G-K453d30gXPDVTgYYwGf-E/s640/les+mis+4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Pretty clever no?!<br />
<br />
I decided to embroider some lyrics from the musical on the back of the cushion from the song Red and Black as it fitted in with the colour scheme of the cushion.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmncffbnU4BAGxMDWiKv55lWKR1MB1nMvN54AacetE9d0A_Hti8P2wtt_Baqq6EROQS6TcD3xkwThY_Eb0VvaHoprqoj01xHxCzMRoiuZuQcyoNBuZj1yZbBBTUiQC2a38of4f-azBi58/s1600/les+mis+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmncffbnU4BAGxMDWiKv55lWKR1MB1nMvN54AacetE9d0A_Hti8P2wtt_Baqq6EROQS6TcD3xkwThY_Eb0VvaHoprqoj01xHxCzMRoiuZuQcyoNBuZj1yZbBBTUiQC2a38of4f-azBi58/s640/les+mis+2.jpg" width="368" /></a></div>
<br />
When it was made into a cushion it was harder to picture the illusion but it was still there!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPK8ymkM3_OViGFaD6240FfrdkB8wgoLMK109mhX5gM_IJNczL6AxYt4urv47sCslhePM8lxc0jlLv0Wsupb07SpmiTusgbNc4dwCtel5JwRIL0WhQVyFoIiodGxEKlAYGdzfi9_kTUGE/s1600/les+mis.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="506" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPK8ymkM3_OViGFaD6240FfrdkB8wgoLMK109mhX5gM_IJNczL6AxYt4urv47sCslhePM8lxc0jlLv0Wsupb07SpmiTusgbNc4dwCtel5JwRIL0WhQVyFoIiodGxEKlAYGdzfi9_kTUGE/s640/les+mis.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I definitely want to try more illusion knitting maybe on a scarf or something!</div>

I've known about this for about 6 months but I obviously left it all until the last minute to actually make stock for it!<br />
<br />
Here are some bits I whipped up in the week before I handed it over to my Auntie!<br />
<br />
I managed 3 pairs of rabbit bootees one pink, one neutral and one blue. I'm going to have to make some adult sized ones as I want a pair!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuCFUZCoO2_gXNxU319Ud7L_BxGMj2sQevfJPO-6Us6kuLtREzkPFVhD87xZKxU7Z9wjOQcFxQLKr1NEtzo96axR0o_favVqz3YHFLlNiG7bmzo2jga7V9G3SBZay21GKlAPN8zp5LHqg/s1600/craft+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuCFUZCoO2_gXNxU319Ud7L_BxGMj2sQevfJPO-6Us6kuLtREzkPFVhD87xZKxU7Z9wjOQcFxQLKr1NEtzo96axR0o_favVqz3YHFLlNiG7bmzo2jga7V9G3SBZay21GKlAPN8zp5LHqg/s640/craft+3.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
After being unable to find my stencil brush, which of course showed up as soon as I purchased another one, I made some more bags the london skyline one is my favourite. I was planning on trying out some other cities but leaving everything to the last minute meant I couldn't this time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And some more scrabble bags to replace some letters I had already sold. No doubt people will want ones I haven't done though!<br />
<br />

I was planning a bicycle one with embroidered flowers in the basket but it needed some tweaking before it was ready so has been added to my massive work in progress pile!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had some other stock including make up bags, cushions, tea cosies and cards as well. I also managed to sew together 3 more hello kitty cushions.</div>

I haven't heard how the stall went yet- which could mean not very well as its been raining down in Somerset all day! But living in the east I've managed to get a sunburnt face!!</div>

My friend has recently had a baby boy. As soon as I found out what she was having I had to start thinking of what to make as a gift for the new arrival. I had made her first baby a little matinee coat and a pair of bootees so I decided to go along the same lines for this baby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrmmy2Jaajd6_ryd9_85-rFdTjm2CvmnPgS8sOLE76JyEMm7yyUbaRd6gqrensa8TX1JiNq3iYV8eB43MeSGDStIKZnzCpXUCQ7ecfd6oXjnoGzoRaoXoKcEslOe3bi80m4Dk85BsJQNU/s1600/Jack2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="378" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrmmy2Jaajd6_ryd9_85-rFdTjm2CvmnPgS8sOLE76JyEMm7yyUbaRd6gqrensa8TX1JiNq3iYV8eB43MeSGDStIKZnzCpXUCQ7ecfd6oXjnoGzoRaoXoKcEslOe3bi80m4Dk85BsJQNU/s400/Jack2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
How cute are these bunny bootees?! They were from a free pattern in the Daily Mail a month or so ago. And as soon as I saw them I knew they were the perfect ones to make. They were pretty quick to knit up and only had a back seam to sew up. But I did have to look up some of the terminology used as they were new to me- luckily the internet came to the rescue!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqJfbpKE98PeBivR4jQkZ2-hhfNw2FPOs1aYIq0eWE6U7rxHmQ15Ypf6eKLst2bsydfAj77GnId7d-8PHiN9_bK-E6CYctdwZSqTZPqFBXsUo-yavcAidNEirMVIeO52b1rWEpl5Ezjfk/s1600/Jack4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqJfbpKE98PeBivR4jQkZ2-hhfNw2FPOs1aYIq0eWE6U7rxHmQ15Ypf6eKLst2bsydfAj77GnId7d-8PHiN9_bK-E6CYctdwZSqTZPqFBXsUo-yavcAidNEirMVIeO52b1rWEpl5Ezjfk/s400/Jack4.jpg" width="382" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the jumper I chose to knit for him. I don't like to make the newborn sizes of clothes as they aren't small enough for long enough to get much wear out of them. So I made this is 6-9 months so it will be ready for him over autumn and winter. It is a Debbie Bliss pattern and was really easy to follow and quick to knit- which is good as I tend to get bored with doing rows and rows of the same stitches!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT-6pmS10vatBnIY2gy7B8be0vskuVRFQ8Sb4sx2bEfQiUBkQwAjEPT9x2krMgqV5z6WbZSljewHbuQ3XfJnFmKpNjcbkLlAHpkt0vpJraw7g9HB7aGYkv7rI_TlnsAFVZUb4qX-CnNZ8/s1600/Jack5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT-6pmS10vatBnIY2gy7B8be0vskuVRFQ8Sb4sx2bEfQiUBkQwAjEPT9x2krMgqV5z6WbZSljewHbuQ3XfJnFmKpNjcbkLlAHpkt0vpJraw7g9HB7aGYkv7rI_TlnsAFVZUb4qX-CnNZ8/s400/Jack5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I couldn't leave his big sister out with not gifts. So I made her a little badge so everyone knows that she is proud of her baby brother!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOyN5adXht6EnZZY69aJ4Bvqc06ZlJn3E20J_SVDDKVnmKQoPZZLSxazkNejxxtHc-PIChVFnlKFWRd2Z6K3vB7gyLku_JjFqoi__kvMKDgRIlLAArKtT98QlVQHTkx0T0P8vcbhpFrl8/s1600/Jack3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOyN5adXht6EnZZY69aJ4Bvqc06ZlJn3E20J_SVDDKVnmKQoPZZLSxazkNejxxtHc-PIChVFnlKFWRd2Z6K3vB7gyLku_JjFqoi__kvMKDgRIlLAArKtT98QlVQHTkx0T0P8vcbhpFrl8/s400/Jack3.jpg" width="342" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made her a doll/teddy carrier for carrying around her toys. I saw a picture on pinterest and was hoping it would take me to a tutorial but it was just a review of a pattern for one in a book so I had to wing how to construct one but I am pretty impressed with the results. It had to have a dinosaur pocket on the front because is obsessed with dinosaurs and pockets!!<br />
<br />
I do love making things for babies and children. Just need to convince some more friends they want to have a baby so I can craft some more tiny things!!Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-73697369692437135112013-04-05T09:57:00.002-07:002013-04-05T09:57:57.887-07:00Easter<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt9sms7BqIs6t5sTwlfNituEpKI-7qxmJm8GEEd4whOStQw6Ubu-wIAsCELOTfBUhO7tBummy1ZeuIDI4NwSqF8DnskPO4P5SjKpCJ0CGHUEDZIFPSxjpQWfVwRC3gHxrQt9lEyZsshBE/s1600/easter3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt9sms7BqIs6t5sTwlfNituEpKI-7qxmJm8GEEd4whOStQw6Ubu-wIAsCELOTfBUhO7tBummy1ZeuIDI4NwSqF8DnskPO4P5SjKpCJ0CGHUEDZIFPSxjpQWfVwRC3gHxrQt9lEyZsshBE/s320/easter3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I know Easter was nearly a whole week ago now but I still have the remnants in my kitchen waiting to be consumed!<br />
<br />
I couldn't afford chocolate eggs for everyone so I knitted little chicks from a Jean Greenhowe pattern I spotted on Ravelry which can be found <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/easter-egg-treats" target="_blank">here</a> and brought some creme eggs to sit inside them. I didn't have and googly eyes so just had to stitch some on but I think they still look pretty cute. And they decorated the table nicely.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7M_BRzfGGn7BBMyzFZ-mslA30GSpMRuFxSy_OzMv9Gr9X_CjCUyUc7tlF9RetFEufkzfpVfn-rneXBEoE7f_CEFdpijgOWtLQFh9p-8z-q0QETPzW45Za7GrQr5OVLG8gdaIyFAiBTG4/s1600/easter1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7M_BRzfGGn7BBMyzFZ-mslA30GSpMRuFxSy_OzMv9Gr9X_CjCUyUc7tlF9RetFEufkzfpVfn-rneXBEoE7f_CEFdpijgOWtLQFh9p-8z-q0QETPzW45Za7GrQr5OVLG8gdaIyFAiBTG4/s320/easter1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I also decided to try my hand at some proper easter baking. I picked up Paul Hollywoods 'How to Bake' a month or so ago and decided to make Hot Cross buns and Simnel cake using his recipes in the book. And then luckily both were made on the Great British Bake off easter special so I got some extra tips on how to knead the dough etc! I haven't made bread since school (except in a bread maker) so was really pleased with how these turned out- they look like actual Hot Cross buns that you would buy in a shop and tasted better I'd say!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8HxLGYV3njny9hi1G6hwF3qUL_qsDGJ_ntxE1wA7h5mQqWQEvwrafVgbgm3QtVbcMTmnVGJuKAywI4MmEC_bNA0UuQC-9-QhYU7xfKsVF8nKpDbB2r51R9m7kGIUmRg5iai7Fwa-Ypeo/s1600/easter2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8HxLGYV3njny9hi1G6hwF3qUL_qsDGJ_ntxE1wA7h5mQqWQEvwrafVgbgm3QtVbcMTmnVGJuKAywI4MmEC_bNA0UuQC-9-QhYU7xfKsVF8nKpDbB2r51R9m7kGIUmRg5iai7Fwa-Ypeo/s320/easter2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And my simnel cake (although never really tasted one before) also tasted very yummy! But I love marzipan so it wouldn't take much to please me! I even made the marzipan myself- I thought it would be so tricky and thats why people just buy it but it really wasn't and took less time to make than it would to drive to the shops and buy a block.<br />
<br />
A very nice easter all round made even better by the fact that I had Easter Monday off work!! I am going to make it a tradition to make hot cross buns every year now I think and I enjoyed making them a lot so will try out different breads between now and then.<br />
<br />
Hope you all had a lovely easter and did anyone craft or bake things?Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-67081019184773842002013-03-10T13:41:00.001-07:002013-03-10T13:41:40.132-07:00A week in Somerset<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was lucky enough to have a weeks holiday left from work so I went with my mum to visit my auntie in Somerset. She lives near Wells and can see the Glastonbury Tor from her house. It is so lovely and peaceful to spend a week.</div>

One of our day trips was to Bath as I hadn't been there since I was little. We had a lovely sunny day and stopped off in the Jane Austen tea rooms for a hot chocolate!<br />

I loved the reflection in the water. Whilst at my auntie's in the evening I got a lot of cross stitching done on my Royal Wedding sampler which I'll be able to show you soon. I may even get it finished before their two year anniversary!!<br />

This was a view Alexandra Park of bath. It looked like toy town from up there especially when the train left the station and started travelling around the edge of the city.<br />
<br />
But its back to work now unfortunately!!Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-57506220774244394802013-02-11T23:43:00.002-08:002013-02-11T23:43:42.026-08:00Mum's finished birthday presentThis should have been Mum's Christmas present but it was no where near finished then so I made sure it was finished in time for her birthday on the 13th February. <br />
<br />
I've decided I'm much more productive if I have a couple of projects on the go at the same time but just work on one in the mornings in bed and one in the evenings on the sofa! This was my morning project. As I do a later shift at work every day I don't have to get up and ready until 9am so I wake up at 7am so I can get in a few hours stitching done in the mornings.<br />
<br />
My mum plays bowls in the summer and is the ladies captain of the local bowls club so when I found this chart in an old CrossStitcher from a charity shop I thought it would be perfect. It is from issue 32 (July 1995) and is a bowler from the 1900s. I can't imagine it was very easy to bowl in this skirt!!<br />
<br />

<br />
I didn't use the exact colours in the chart as it would have been too expensive to have to buy them all so just used ones I already had in my box that were close to the picture. I think she will go into the study so I mounted her into a black frame to match the other pictures in there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I haven't mounted with a border before but I'm pretty impressed with the result. Thought I would even sign it!! I won't be giving her the picture until Sunday, this is possibly the most I have ever been prepared with a handmade present- but there is still time to misplace it before the day!!Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-89302387182656617482013-02-06T12:30:00.000-08:002013-02-06T12:30:11.855-08:00Millionaire Shortbread CheesecakeThis recipe has taken a few attempts to perfect but I think I've finally cracked it! I brought a version of this from Sainsburys once and although it tasted very yummy I thought I could do better and I think I have!<br />
<br />
The base uses an adapted Mary Berry recipe for shortbread but I only make half the quantity. It uses a lot of butter but this is not exactly a slimming dessert as you will see!<br />
<br />
Base ingredients:<br />
<ul>
<li><span class="amount">4oz </span><span class="name">plain flour</span></li>
<li><span class="ingredient"><span class="amount">2oz </span><span class="name">caster sugar</span></span></li>
<li><span class="ingredient"><span class="amount">4oz </span><span class="name">butter</span></span></li>
<li><span class="ingredient"><span class="amount">2oz cornflour</span></span></li>
</ul>
<span class="ingredient"><span class="amount">Combine all the ingredients and press into a tin. I used a deep 20cm round cake tin. Bake in the oven for about 30-40 mins at a lower heat than usual 160/gas 2 or until slightly golden. When I combined all the ingredients it was very short and wouldn't come together for me to roll out so I simply pressed it into the tin with my hands. I was a bit worried about it being too crumbly but it tasted amazing the most moutwatering shortbread I've ever eaten (I had to make extra to taste test obviously!) and didn't crumble too much when cooked. I probably wouldn't have it purely for shortbread but as a base it was perfect.</span></span><br />
<span class="ingredient"><span class="amount"></span></span><br />
<span class="ingredient"><span class="amount">Caramel layer ingredients:</span></span><br />
<ul>
<li>397g (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk</li>
<li>125g (4oz) butter (diced)</li>
<li>75g (3oz) soft light brown sugar</li>
<li>2 tbsp golden syrup</li>
<li>mascarpone cheese</li>
</ul>
Place all ingredients (except cheese) in a saucepan over a low heat and bring to the boil, keep boiling and stir continuously for 10-12 mins. Leave to cool slightly and stir in the cheese. It depends how deep you want this layer to be as to how much cheese you use. I normally go for a big pot! Then spoon over shortbread layer and place in the fridge to set.<br />
<br />
Chocolate topping ingredients:<br />
<ul>
<li>80ml double cream</li>
<li>200g dark chocolate</li>
</ul>
Stir cream and chocolate in a small saucepan over low heat until smooth. Pour over caramel layer and return to fridge until you need it!<br />
<br />
I want a slice (or two) of this just thinking about it!<br />

<span class="ingredient"><span class="amount"></span></span><br />Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-43870718916772752892013-02-01T23:41:00.000-08:002013-02-01T23:41:02.242-08:00Chicken and Peach BakeWhen I first heard I was having this at my Godmothers house at Christmas I was a bit dubious! But it was amazing and I have had to make it again since!!<br />
<br />
It is really simple to make and can be adapted to suit the amount of people you need to feed. It can be made the day before and just popped in the oven half an hour before you want it- sounds like the perfect dish right?!<br />
<br />
Ingredients:<br />
Chicken (cooked and shredded)<br />
Cheese (grated)<br />
White sauce<br />
Tinned peaches<br />
<br />
When my Godmother cooked this for 10 of us she cooked 2 whole chickens, whereas I cooked it for 2 of us and cooked 1 chicken breast so the amount of chicken you need depends on how many people you want to feed and how generous you are feeling!<br />
<br />
To assemble the bake you put a layer of chicken then a layer of cheese, and repeat a few times until your dish is full. You then pour the white sauce over the whole thing and layer the top with peaches (I used peach slices as thats what I had but my Godmother had halved whole peaches on hers). Pop in the oven for about half an hour until nice and hot and bubbling. The cheese melts as it cooks and the peaches go slighlty caramalised- it is just soooo yummy to eat!<br />
<br />
My Godmother served it with rice but I made a variation with macaroni. I cooked enough macaroni for 2 people and mixed it in with the chicken before layering the dish up and it was really yummy.<br />
<br />
Let me know if you make it or if you have already made one similar and did a different variation! Writing this had made me want to make it again!!<br />
<br />Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-44388950143316156432013-01-29T23:48:00.000-08:002013-01-29T23:48:55.488-08:00The results of the £20 Christmas ChallengeI have finally worked out how to get pictures from my new phone onto the computer (in a very long winded way!) so I can share with you my Christmas makes. I do have a confession to make though that I didn't manage to make them all as I had a few custom orders to complete which had to take priority but what I did make was under my £20 budget.<br />
<br />
The custom orders I completed were wheat bags which were made to a very specific size and weight to replace a much loved (but pretty grim) one! They were scented with lemon and smelt pretty amazing!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD-ATQu4VkpAMPtlFtvbb4RYryPJibXDf9M9X_rKzaGE-5gRomihBOG8oJk5Mx8HActS23-yU5bZ5BPluW2CmvoG84tdFxfIksOf4z8HStspx4mty4RgtfRaFV9NI7bHB9RVteFykp5oQ/s1600/wheat+bags.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="264" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD-ATQu4VkpAMPtlFtvbb4RYryPJibXDf9M9X_rKzaGE-5gRomihBOG8oJk5Mx8HActS23-yU5bZ5BPluW2CmvoG84tdFxfIksOf4z8HStspx4mty4RgtfRaFV9NI7bHB9RVteFykp5oQ/s640/wheat+bags.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
From a craft fair I did at the beginning of December someone also got in contact with me to make them some scrabble bags as a Christmas present. I didn't take pictures of the ones I made but they were based on the one I made my friend as a brithday present.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPDFhXYESTI1gbfllJl_iaKORPcx0cU2vLTUen8Ri226VzxG2-1UFRAS8y6dL3se1DGA8whv7SE-FRO_miG2ZT1geMH-cldusbQFWhPxq7cNBu9oVGud_U3x51wHHPIFkR2aoIEdWfMG8/s1600/amelia+scrabble+bag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPDFhXYESTI1gbfllJl_iaKORPcx0cU2vLTUen8Ri226VzxG2-1UFRAS8y6dL3se1DGA8whv7SE-FRO_miG2ZT1geMH-cldusbQFWhPxq7cNBu9oVGud_U3x51wHHPIFkR2aoIEdWfMG8/s640/amelia+scrabble+bag.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
Now onto the Christmas presents!<br />
<br />
I stitched my Nan a little picture of some daffodils as I thought this would look cheerful on the windowsil. The threads I already had so I just spent £1.50 on a mini mirrored frame to put it in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTbyOJ0u3IdTWBvYAfsUJY4IaVr9PZKJi1Q5-I0PR6GOSUe7hq1TRhcUUfNW0Sf39uRivRPBTGoPGH52fllcHEUDljMoQ4He_rBnLL8PmOoFlbZGW2sllgXJF3ejII7XNeot0k1_BTRa4/s1600/675.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTbyOJ0u3IdTWBvYAfsUJY4IaVr9PZKJi1Q5-I0PR6GOSUe7hq1TRhcUUfNW0Sf39uRivRPBTGoPGH52fllcHEUDljMoQ4He_rBnLL8PmOoFlbZGW2sllgXJF3ejII7XNeot0k1_BTRa4/s640/675.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtS78v66A8hlPJN2eYhQ9P5OuRqrBijmJTJVb0bgAsYK9c01yp2jykLFcOkXZ7bSKc7UX3fCqxD-QXTrJlQ-UpD3P8RGlXcx08nL8gyQRcpokrJJV6NeAfp-4mZ6zm-RhK4bgR-7M_YWA/s1600/nans+cross+stitch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
I made my dad a wheat bag from the leftover wheat and fabric so that cost me nothing. I also stitched a Gilmore Girls quote for a friend which I forgot to take a picture of (it all ended very rushed near Christmas!!) which used threads I already had so again just had to buy a frame for about £3.<br />
<br />
I have a friend who looooooooves pizza and so I thought I would make her a cushion in the shape of a pizza because that is what everyone needs right?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6Te1hYpOHcaG45wS3tEeDxBoNYdwjP0qoBh5mEC7xz28sLnYjWTf41EhLtTrbAIMMWg9B25Zt8afChTj0-xCtGk8AAUv8JXNBpZwMm66LXQ0dIKIKxWiJqQb14An0KeGZZc9NYO9bI70/s1600/pizza+cushion.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6Te1hYpOHcaG45wS3tEeDxBoNYdwjP0qoBh5mEC7xz28sLnYjWTf41EhLtTrbAIMMWg9B25Zt8afChTj0-xCtGk8AAUv8JXNBpZwMm66LXQ0dIKIKxWiJqQb14An0KeGZZc9NYO9bI70/s640/pizza+cushion.jpg" width="594" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a picture from before I had finished stitching it up. I am a bit disappointed with the result as I feel I had to rush it to get it finished in time so the toppings could have been more exciting but it looks ok! The materials for this came to about £5 with another £4 on the cushion pad.<br />
<br />
I also made an edible gift for my crafternoon friend <a href="http://madeformollyrose.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">madeformollyrose</a>! It was using cookie cutters I had from Lakeland and I only had to spend 79p on the flour!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ5BQHPuh50z_MjaflmgIT0YcByLBQaQd5fajf2QLk7e_kw_9oxfKAuC5EVkBFcsgQjbwz36UN7vWoRV861LTOzCUW5mgeOFRTp0acTn6DsaL0tHyoWHrDpLy_-nvVlzk3egRxHe0pGSg/s1600/cookie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ5BQHPuh50z_MjaflmgIT0YcByLBQaQd5fajf2QLk7e_kw_9oxfKAuC5EVkBFcsgQjbwz36UN7vWoRV861LTOzCUW5mgeOFRTp0acTn6DsaL0tHyoWHrDpLy_-nvVlzk3egRxHe0pGSg/s640/cookie.jpg" width="542" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made a mini knitted snowman with a pattern from <a href="http://mochimochiland.com/" target="_blank">mochimochiland</a> which I thought was so cute for her daughter as a little Christmas present.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinsLndMDiRJJxtENWm9wvUEt65VAta7aTY5X1JBy8VmLPLgn8F4BJKAc-lcaBj8XQVaqfyD3InLPv9BfkECiUIEjzmaDSZatyTK2KrhtIEC2ebCO29qjveLEFqD4PQFObsNgGVMhaj2vs/s1600/snowman.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinsLndMDiRJJxtENWm9wvUEt65VAta7aTY5X1JBy8VmLPLgn8F4BJKAc-lcaBj8XQVaqfyD3InLPv9BfkECiUIEjzmaDSZatyTK2KrhtIEC2ebCO29qjveLEFqD4PQFObsNgGVMhaj2vs/s640/snowman.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I've decided to make it a bit of a mini tradition to give her a little Christmas decoration each year so that she'll have a collection of them when she is grown up and moves out to decorate her house with. This is the one I made her last year (it's been a bit of a snowman theme!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ_aJ-EABhaULi7d0cs4m-_AhJWXBIaAPAdnkktdsR7CddGeUCh79GhJRq66u8FBUZin6ViU4sHI6fjg3OeI8TcXxO8Tg5Oiq3oUpbc-x9IVPn_phDcLCuLSV9lBnNEBHL2jny1Zmtlu4/s1600/Central+Bedfordshire-20111128-00180.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ_aJ-EABhaULi7d0cs4m-_AhJWXBIaAPAdnkktdsR7CddGeUCh79GhJRq66u8FBUZin6ViU4sHI6fjg3OeI8TcXxO8Tg5Oiq3oUpbc-x9IVPn_phDcLCuLSV9lBnNEBHL2jny1Zmtlu4/s640/Central+Bedfordshire-20111128-00180.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
That is all I managed to make though- oops! I had to have a late night run to a supermarket for the rest of the family presents. But from what I made I spent £14.50ish so within my budget of £20. I am starting my Christmas presents a lot earlier this time!! The one for my mum has turned into her birthday present so you'll get to see that really soon as her birthday is in February- I had better get a move on!<br />
<br />
Did any of you have a frugal and thrifty Christmas? What handmade gifts did you give?Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-42514221472881218422013-01-09T00:01:00.000-08:002013-01-09T00:01:07.845-08:00New Year StitchilationsHappy New Year everyone!<br />
<br />
I'm trying to fill you in on my Chrsitmas gift making but can't work out how to get the pictures from my new phone onto the blog so you'll have to bear with me!<br />
<br />
I want to make some crafty new years resolutions on here in the hope that I will then stick to them! Do you make resolutions? I quite enjoy thinking about what I want to achieve in the next year or what I want to change for the better.<br />
<br />
<br />
<img height="426" id="il_fi" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/06/New-Year_Resolutions_list.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="640" /><br />
<br />
<br />
1. Learn to crochet!! This was a resolution last year and I did manage to crochet one dodgy looking granny square and one actual square looking one. But it all felt very backwards and wrong so I'm going to try it left handed and see if that makes a difference otherwise I'll just have to persevere until it feels natural. I am very envious of the granny a day challenge and want to be able to take part next year!<br />
<br />
<img height="640" id="il_fi" src="http://0.tqn.com/d/crochet/1/0/C/L/-/-/easy-granny-square-pattern.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="640" /><br />
<br />
2. Make entries for the local show. I want to continue my success of last years show. Which can be found <a href="http://www.nannynora.co.uk/2012_09_01_archive.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I want to win the cup again basically its so shiny and I don't want to have to find something to replace its space on the shelf!! I've got a cross stitch half finished I can enter but need to get my thinking cap on for the other categories.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp4CXqXXgMUmnUtpV_NToRqA2B359KvralccbCsWeO53QJKjtV7tIC4w3w08MvgMSm1GuP39mf-lsSbl4OyvnlmBGfZS8_hsEKXlcadt3WdVpqA6LQmvPwsU52E8MhdQLcd1h1gViWLq0/s1600/Potton+Show+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp4CXqXXgMUmnUtpV_NToRqA2B359KvralccbCsWeO53QJKjtV7tIC4w3w08MvgMSm1GuP39mf-lsSbl4OyvnlmBGfZS8_hsEKXlcadt3WdVpqA6LQmvPwsU52E8MhdQLcd1h1gViWLq0/s640/Potton+Show+9.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
3. Open an Etsy shop. This is also something I wanted to do last year but ran out of time- I thought last year went ridiculously quick! I know what I want to stock it with I just need to get a wriggle on and make it all so I can list it.<br />
<br />
<img height="338" id="il_fi" src="http://cloudfront.bostinno.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/etsy-logo.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="640" /><br />
<br />
4. Comment more on the blogs I read. I read a lot of blogs from people I follow on twitter and on here but rarely leave a comment. I'm not really sure why, I just think to myself what a nice post or great idea and never let the blogger know, but that will change this year!<br />
<br />
<img height="359" id="il_fi" src="http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/blog-comment-forms/outlaw-design-blog-comment-form.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="500" /><br />
<br />
5. Tweet more. I've been on twitter for a while now and although I read the feed most days a barely tweet myself. Mainly because I think no one is interested about what I'm doing!! But when I'm reading my feed that is what I like reading about other people, I'm nosey I want to know what people are up to and what crafts they are working on so I will try and share a bit more of my boring life with the world of twitter!!<br />
<br />
<img height="470" id="il_fi" src="https://twimg0-a.akamaihd.net/profile_images/2284174758/v65oai7fxn47qv9nectx.png" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="470" /><br />
I think 5 resolutions is enough to be getting on with for this year! I can't wait for payday tomorrow so I can buy a new diary for my filofax and start planning in when I'm going to start the resolutions. (reading this last bit back I think I need to get out more!!)<br />
<br />
Let me know if you have any resolutions or if any of yours are the same?<br />
<br />
Hopefully I'll have my Christmas post complete with pictures ready for you soon!<br />

Everything you use during the rest of the year goes up in the loft and is replaced with a Christmas version. I want chrsitmas throws, cushions, pictures, tea towel, crockery, glasses, mugs, doormats...EVERYTHING!!<br />
<br />
With this in mind I thought I should get cracking! I stitched some pictures from CrossStitcher one from last year and one from this year. I'm really liking the Scandinavian style christmas colours at the moment, I like the simplicity.They were really easy to stitch as they only have one colour and only took a few evenings for each one.<br />
<br />
I then framed them in 2 matching frames my grandma was chucking out. I feel more Christmassy just looking at them!<br />
<br />

<br />
This is the red and white one from lat years CrossStitcher that I've been wanting to stitch for the whole year!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This one was in the magazine a couple of months ago but on blue evenweave with white thread. But as I have only £20 for Christmas this year I used what I already had and still love it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have also knitted up this little guy! I downloaded the pattern earlier in the year after the success of the bunny rabbit pattern from Mochimochiland and once you get the hang of firstly knitting on 4 needles and secondly having very few stitches it is very easy to follow and took an episode of Downton to make!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRCscrG5D4q0PI_mSSaHhyphenhyphenfhfGF4AFXwQKSeTIKAHa-PDeOsISXbu1ep9trXDjmwht19HZVLvEpKf9yKqPNnwklbNKsk3fNdcoV-HHLZoZ5Qa8Sy7YfAX6NTA1jmQ4sCnHs2TWJDORf4w/s1600/Chrsitmas+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRCscrG5D4q0PI_mSSaHhyphenhyphenfhfGF4AFXwQKSeTIKAHa-PDeOsISXbu1ep9trXDjmwht19HZVLvEpKf9yKqPNnwklbNKsk3fNdcoV-HHLZoZ5Qa8Sy7YfAX6NTA1jmQ4sCnHs2TWJDORf4w/s320/Chrsitmas+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm already knitting up more of them so I can have a rainbow of different coloured scarves in the house by Christmas!<br />
<br />
This is my Christmas crafting so far and I still have my whole £20 budget remaining as these were all made using materials I already had. I have started creating some Christmas presents so will share them with you soon.Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-79246734031415132732012-10-28T09:16:00.000-07:002012-10-28T09:16:26.670-07:00The £20 Christmas Challenge<img height="317" id="il_fi" src="http://www2.hmc.edu/~groves/bill.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="576" /><br />
<br />
I have set myself a challenge to do Christmas this year for £20! I know crazy right?! I work in retail and Christmas starts early decorations come out at the end of September and it is a long old slog to Christmas. After working in a shop all day the last thing I can be bothered to do is trudge round the shops buying Christmas presents for my family and friends, spending £100 or so on things they may not even like.<br />
<br />
The last few years I have made presents for family members but this still didn't prove to be very cheap (although much more enjoyable than shopping). So this year I am taking the challenge further my £20 Christmas includes:<br />
<ul>
<li>Presents</li>
<li>Decorations</li>
<li>Wrapping paper</li>
<li>Cards</li>
<li>Postage</li>
</ul>
I will be making my Christmas presents as much as I can from bits I already have only buying materials where absolutely necessary. Decorations wise I have quite a lot of bits already so I will make a few bits here and there with stuff from my stash (I have a cushion very nearly finished) and mainly be resisting the urge to buy more stuff!!<br />
<br />
I'm going to keep boxes to put presents in and keep the wrapping paper simple- maybe just brown paper with old ribbons I have stashed from last Christmas. I have last years Chrsitmas cards I can use to make tags or to make into new cards.<br />
<br />
Is anyone else setting themselves a Christmas challenge this year?<br />
Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-17642371694064869422012-09-09T12:51:00.001-07:002012-09-09T12:51:57.678-07:00I won I won I won!!!As I was working I had to wait until I got home at 8pm to see if I had won anything in the local Flower and Veg show and I did!!!<br />
<br />
As I said in my previous post I entered 6 items and I am pleased to announce that they all came either 1st, 2nd or 3rd- yay!<br />
<br />
Here are my entries in no particular order! (I couldn't wait until it was light to take the pictures- I was too excited!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmba63WGqOi-9nlZ1BaHPkGEWr4hivLPCNQtpgDjuU2ERA0B5ROOHwp-7nHH0K5wHz9JoeCWaSzIiiekeZDDytBJrUNVjEKvsYd_4lcu0OeBEpd5v9EfXgJsrPk_UGefNFQRk-miS5oxo/s1600/Potton+Show+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmba63WGqOi-9nlZ1BaHPkGEWr4hivLPCNQtpgDjuU2ERA0B5ROOHwp-7nHH0K5wHz9JoeCWaSzIiiekeZDDytBJrUNVjEKvsYd_4lcu0OeBEpd5v9EfXgJsrPk_UGefNFQRk-miS5oxo/s640/Potton+Show+2.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
The little beach hut doorstop I made for my auntie came 3rd in '1 Article of counted cross stitch' BUT that was not my only cross stitch entry!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbUsWUZOKRG3-q1ga2-VtCPv6Se2dPNaWLpCWo51hEFlBXihYv-0LgViljdd-9Nx4y0ZpqiWRuKIEzJm2WA7MwoVkw7X99kZ2nZ9LqaFjdHeiQoSX9U1tt-d5hBXtFXFpGGuBL8q_M1jw/s1600/Potton+Show+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbUsWUZOKRG3-q1ga2-VtCPv6Se2dPNaWLpCWo51hEFlBXihYv-0LgViljdd-9Nx4y0ZpqiWRuKIEzJm2WA7MwoVkw7X99kZ2nZ9LqaFjdHeiQoSX9U1tt-d5hBXtFXFpGGuBL8q_M1jw/s640/Potton+Show+7.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
This won 1st prize!!!!! The pattern (like the beach hut) was from CrossStitcher magazine and this particlular one was in the first magazine I ever purchased and was the reason I wanted the magazine. The pattern said it took 30 hours to stitch but I imagine I'm probably slower than that speed! I got fed up with it at times and moved onto other things but I eventually finished it and am ridiculously proud of it! (I put it on my craft stall but was really glad that it didn't sell as now I can keep it!!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfI4AkYn4C00GiZAp5rMlqPkEwxOI7WR_Yv5V0A3bdn76BortTp1bquVuc6yu4Qzvo18BucAYOdbwVLrrRbikVsnlXTRDF65k0aLPsM6m_X-NO7oYLLNltAckMTAzpyWctf-qfbkQxBxA/s1600/Potton+Show+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfI4AkYn4C00GiZAp5rMlqPkEwxOI7WR_Yv5V0A3bdn76BortTp1bquVuc6yu4Qzvo18BucAYOdbwVLrrRbikVsnlXTRDF65k0aLPsM6m_X-NO7oYLLNltAckMTAzpyWctf-qfbkQxBxA/s640/Potton+Show+6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The tapestry I made for a friend's birthday also won first prize in the '1 Article of tapestry' category! I haven't seen it for a while and forgot how much I love it! It has made me want to do tapestry again after swearing off it forever when I completed this! It was the first thing I ever stitched on a canvas and I didn't know that I needed a frame so it wouldn't go wonky hence the slant of the flag! I also made up the pattern as I stitched it so some of the diagonals are a little suspect! But I still love it and so does my friend!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUwiME_9BIq2byT4ijrXiVt82-LN4UrnTssp6SiFCG1EqJZLIHzj2eJxit0nQUX-jKCaENA91YeDx_BZKZ57NVyPKB7CXUtiaSAaL_5VO4o8cv2CLvxDO7B3FYbXUqqkt1pQX4eTb3kSw/s1600/Potton+Show+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUwiME_9BIq2byT4ijrXiVt82-LN4UrnTssp6SiFCG1EqJZLIHzj2eJxit0nQUX-jKCaENA91YeDx_BZKZ57NVyPKB7CXUtiaSAaL_5VO4o8cv2CLvxDO7B3FYbXUqqkt1pQX4eTb3kSw/s640/Potton+Show+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the blanket made from old jumpers from a pattern in a Mollie Makes last October. It was entered in the 'Something new from something old' class.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3fYsyZQ5GYmOa0Cls69xCAhJAgYxt9aIwe8Cs9IWpZpPX76iI584hlLxxZ3oPpTK5ChkgwpgCpbevrQFz0kodwKZs8OyvMsBmMg0gLwB2XCAILjwq2ekzzM2BDCvf2Y9juMXHqO2hQGY/s1600/Potton+Show+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3fYsyZQ5GYmOa0Cls69xCAhJAgYxt9aIwe8Cs9IWpZpPX76iI584hlLxxZ3oPpTK5ChkgwpgCpbevrQFz0kodwKZs8OyvMsBmMg0gLwB2XCAILjwq2ekzzM2BDCvf2Y9juMXHqO2hQGY/s640/Potton+Show+4.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I entered this one just because I had him made up already I didn't think it would win anything but it actually came second in the 'Handmade toy' class. I personally think the other entries were better than mine but I'm not the judge!<br />
<br />
And finally my '1 Article of hand knitting for a child' where I was up against my grandma!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2NUliV-Hy3VeVDR7fl6mwrqJjcEf113e775dmXf5Y4f01q1Zfuat3dFhai0I1fZ1b1m2bH0BcR6DFmO21gFYPsMPMLw4hrxla7lMsSY9gkWlhjQ8tUTq7dEAYWHfAfGm7ICCKiAMVDK0/s1600/Potton+Show+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2NUliV-Hy3VeVDR7fl6mwrqJjcEf113e775dmXf5Y4f01q1Zfuat3dFhai0I1fZ1b1m2bH0BcR6DFmO21gFYPsMPMLw4hrxla7lMsSY9gkWlhjQ8tUTq7dEAYWHfAfGm7ICCKiAMVDK0/s640/Potton+Show+5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Yep I won second!!! But who got first?!!?!?! Did I beat my grandma?!?!?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdbq40nFxdHDOzXN9dVNB4rEUBMsn2Fp6m4hHe0NaRyJ9eytSoLjDBqmcTYFHMmNzTH2a1bCKEUVnNSfHvxUDUrtWD6rft6qz6q99mb7Ii_H1vqr5Cyf2RaVybUSSxyHpxid-149PvhO4/s1600/Potton+Show+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdbq40nFxdHDOzXN9dVNB4rEUBMsn2Fp6m4hHe0NaRyJ9eytSoLjDBqmcTYFHMmNzTH2a1bCKEUVnNSfHvxUDUrtWD6rft6qz6q99mb7Ii_H1vqr5Cyf2RaVybUSSxyHpxid-149PvhO4/s640/Potton+Show+8.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
YES I DID!!!! She didn't get any place. She knew that she hadn't knitted this jumper well enough (even though it looks perfect to me!) So I am taking this victory to mean that I am officially better than my grandma at knitting! (her excuse is that the pupil should be better than the teacher!) The pattern is a Debbie Bliss one and it is knitted in blue as that is what I had in my stash and I didn't want to go out a buy new wool!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsAA8Rbp2NYCZWsYseI76h4Q2O-w7-aG2pTRDF9Wq9pyTiyHXV9uaSxJ9B1Ba0uVj7Hn-8ZDQucji47AROh5DhNW4vx0hw8bRGpxvO6rDE3fT3-EFgfWI9Lnu_n69bJsUD17HuKYx_hbM/s1600/Potton+Show+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsAA8Rbp2NYCZWsYseI76h4Q2O-w7-aG2pTRDF9Wq9pyTiyHXV9uaSxJ9B1Ba0uVj7Hn-8ZDQucji47AROh5DhNW4vx0hw8bRGpxvO6rDE3fT3-EFgfWI9Lnu_n69bJsUD17HuKYx_hbM/s640/Potton+Show+1.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
All my lovely certificates!! And because I got the most points in the Handicrafts category I won a cup!!!!!<br />

It is so shiny!! My name will be engraved on it too! I feel I need to defend my title now so will have to get thinking for next year!! But for now I will have to display this in pride of place in the house for all to see!!</div>

<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
Every year in my town there is a local show you know the giant vegetable kind of one? <br />
<br />
<img height="502" id="il_fi" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj599BhFNAsemDtEy21nwxC8fmwzWuPFSoy4w3foQEH0Ypvo-9G05kiX0qRNuKFDfdSJXXDR-y-g7xH_VBARJVe0PxzacN3FCOExmfdsL8orqEGhdxROXPEBwCOM-oamXUv5r8QRWi_B-M/s1600/villageshow13.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="611" /><br />
<br />
Well they also have cooking, flower arranging and HANDICRAFTS!! I am going to enter into the show this year. There are various sections with knitting, tapestry, cross stitch, patchwork, quilting etc etc. I am going to try and enter as many categories as I can because there is a cup up for grabs!<br />
<br />
I mentioned entering to my grandma and she has now also decided to enter some knitting so I am in direct competition with my her! It is going to be tense to see if either of us manage to win the 50p up for grabs!!! And more importantly who beats who! (I am ignoring the fact that she helped me pick up some stitches for the collar!). She is an amazing knitter (so fast) so I am nervous to see the results. I suppose after over 80 years of knitting I may reach her standards!<br />
<br />
I won't show you what I am entering yet (you never know my competition may stumble upon it!) but I have 6 items in the show. Only 2 of them are completed though.....the others all need finishing off and the show is this saturday- uh oh!! I am also having a craft stall with a colleague on the Sunday and have yet to make enough stock for that but who needs sleep anyway?!<br />
<br />
I unfortunately am working on Saturday (booo!!) so won't get to see if I win or not. But panic not for I have my trusty spies going in to see where I come and will fill you in over the weekend! I never knew I was so competitive but clearly when it comes to crafts it is war!!</div>

<br />
7 random things about me:<br />
<br />
1. I am left handed. Although I am a rubbish leftie! I use cutlery and scissors right handed, I knit right handed, I pretty much only write left handed. It does mean I can sew with either hand and I never have to use back hand in badminton or tennis as I just swap the hand my racket is in- useful!!<br />
<br />
2. I am terrified of wasps! I think it is because I have never been stung so don't know how much it is going to hurt. I have been trying to remain calm recently as this is probably more efficient way getting rid of them but it is so hard not to run in the other direction!<br />
<br />
3. I play the flute. I used to play the flute much better (grade 8 to be precise!!) but since finishing school and n1ot having lessons I am pretty rubbish! I play in a local concert band just to make sure I can still play!<br />
<br />
4. I am a member of St John Ambulance. I have dreams of becoming a nurse but don't want to jump into another degree without making sure it is definitely what I want to do.<br />
<br />
5. I can't swim. Well I can keep myself afloat but I've never had swimming lessons so I have my own style when I swim, it is a mix between doggy paddle and breast stroke whilst kicking my legs! Sometimes I get bored and do a few length with just arms or just legs! Although if I am made to laugh whilst awimming it becomes very difficult to remain above water!!<br />
<br />
6. I have a law degree. I never really wanted to do anything with law but when I had a connexions meeting at school (how useless were they?!) I said I was interested in law and she told me I should look at something else as I wasn't clever enough to get into a law course. So I proved her wrong!! Law is a really interesting subject, I nearly did my masters in it as well!<br />
<br />
7. I LOVE Gilmore Girls!!! I first watched it when I was jobless after finishing my degree. At first I thought it was weird and couldn't understand what they were saying but I was soon hooked and had to watch it everyday. When I got a job and could no longer watch it I brought the first 3 series on dvd and have been watching them ever since! I wish I was a gilmore girl!<br />
<br />
And now for my nominations!!<br />

I like thinking of something my swap partner will like that will make me use new techiques and materials to make. I like the suspense and nervouseness after you've sent it, whether they'll like what you've made. And I LOVE post so I love getting my parcel in the post and excitedly unwrapping it to see what is inside.<br />
<br />
I have signed up to the Popular Crafts swap twice now. The first time the theme was 'spring' and I cross stitched a little picture which can be seen <a href="http://www.nannynora.co.uk/2012/05/spring-swap.html" target="_blank">here</a> and brought a gift and sent it on its way but didn't receive anything in return which was a little dissapointing. This put me off craft swaps for a couple of months but I have taken the plunge again and so glad I did as I received a lovely present from @sarahwalters99 and really enjoyed making her a present.<br />
<br />
The theme for this swap was 'polka dot's. Who doesn't love polka dots right? You make your partner an item related to the theme and buy a little gift to the value of £3. This is what I received from Sarah:<br />
<br />
A polka dot strawberry pin cushion which is living in my sewing box:<br />

And this is what I sent Sarah. Her email stated that she loved pink and Hello Kitty so I thought it safe to encorporate these into her present!<br />

I'm quite pleased with how the cushion turned out and wanted to keep it for myself! I am planning to make more to sell at a craft stall in September they may even make it into my Etsy shop when I get round to stocking it up! I do love cushions!</div>Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802866832349691172.post-60387190226991725762012-08-02T13:23:00.001-07:002012-08-03T01:49:02.626-07:00Handmade Heart SwapYou may remember me mentioning a while ago about a heart swap I signed up to on <a href="http://www.marypoppins-homesweethome.com/" target="_blank">Mary Poppins</a> blog? I was partnered with the lovely <a href="http://vixen307.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Jayne</a> and we exchanged a few emails about likes and dislikes and what we do etc etc. It turned out we like similar things and what we were struggling with was making 5 things with the theme of hearts! We both got crafting and last week sent our items to each other.<br />
<br />
Here is what I received from Jayne:<br />
<br />
Some crochet bunting which I have put up on my mirror. The wool is multicoloured!!<br />

There was also a Tilda card which I have put into a frame but I forgot to take a picture of it but trust me it was lovely!<br />
<br />
This is what I sent Jayne:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
There is a cushion with applique hearts going round to (hopefully) look like a flower. A tiny knitted heart bunting (I love that we both sent mini bunting!!!), a book mark with cross stitch and embroidery, a heart-shaped ceramic dish that I included a recipe with called 'impossible pudding' and a lavender hear sachet with felt hearts decreasing in size stitched to the top.<br />
<br />
I have really enjoyed this swap so thank you to <a href="http://www.marypoppins-homesweethome.com/" target="_blank">Mary Poppins</a> for organising it. Swaps challenge you to make different things and try out new ideas and 'meet' like minded people along the way, me and Jayne are already planning a Christmas themed swap between ourselves!Victoriahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12654510917374979629noreply@blogger.com1
